MCP Server

Filo Desktop includes a local Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. It gives a compatible AI client access to the mail accounts and to-dos already connected to Filo.

MCP is available on Desktop. Filo must remain signed in and running on the same computer as the MCP client.

Connect an MCP client

  1. 1Open Filo Desktop and go to Settings → MCP.
  2. 2Turn on MCP Service and wait for the configuration to appear.
  3. 3Select Copy, then add the copied configuration to your MCP client.
  4. 4Reload the MCP client and confirm that the Filo tools are available.

Available capabilities

Read and organize mail

Browse connected Gmail, Outlook, and IMAP accounts; search and read messages; and manage folders, attachments, and message state.

Drafts

Create, update, and delete drafts when the connected mail provider supports them.

Safe sending

Prepare and review a preview before confirming an immediate send. Scheduled send is not available through MCP.

To-dos

List and inspect to-dos, mark them complete, or permanently delete them.

Security

  • The copied configuration contains a credential for the local MCP endpoint. Keep it private.
  • The server runs on this computer. Keep Filo running while the client uses its tools.
  • Review send previews and permanent-delete requests before confirming them.

Troubleshooting

  • If the configuration is missing, wait for Filo to finish starting, then reopen Settings.
  • If the client reports Unauthorized, copy the current configuration from Filo and replace the old one.
  • If it cannot connect, confirm that Filo is signed in and that the client supports Streamable HTTP MCP servers.
