Inbox Display & Gestures
Two quick settings let you decide what you see in the message list and what happens when you swipe.
1 · Subject line display
Path: Settings → Inbox → Subject
| Option | What you'll see in the list |
|---|---|
| Don't show subject | Only sender + first line of the email |
| Show subject only | Sender + subject line |
| Show subject and summary (default) | Sender, subject, and AI-generated summary |
Tap to pick the layout that helps you skim fastest—changes apply instantly.
2 · Custom swipe actions
Path: Settings → Inbox → Swipe Actions
You can assign separate actions to Swipe Right and Swipe Left on mobile:
| Available actions | What it does |
|---|---|
| Delete | Moves the message to Trash |
| Archive | Clears it from the current view but keeps it searchable |
| Mark as Read / Unread | Toggles read state |
| None | Disables the gesture |
3 · Customize Tabs
Path: Settings → Inbox → Customize Tabs
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Show Tabs | Toggles the category navigation bar on or off at the top. |
| Select Labels | (Only when Show Tabs is on) Choose which tabs to display. |
How to set it
- In Swipe Actions, tap Swipe Right or Swipe Left.
- Choose one of the actions above; a preview shows the new color + icon.
- Back out—the setting is saved automatically.
That's it—tailor the subject view to your liking, then put your most-used action under each thumb for one-hand inbox triage.
