Add and Manage Email Accounts

Connect additional mailboxes to FiloMail, read them together in the unified inbox, or switch to one account when you need a focused view. Account-management actions depend on the provider and account state.

This guide follows the account UI currently implemented in FiloMail Desktop, iOS, and Android. Button names can differ slightly by platform.

Accounts available in the current account picker

Gmail and Outlook use provider authorization. Yahoo, iCloud, 163 Mail, QQ Mail, and other compatible services connect through FiloMail’s IMAP/SMTP flow.

Add an account

Desktop

  1. Open Settings → Account.
  2. Select the + button beside Connected Email Accounts.
  3. Choose the matching provider. If it is not shown, choose IMAP config.
  4. Complete provider authorization or enter the requested IMAP/SMTP details, then confirm the connection.

iOS and Android

  1. Open Settings → Account.
  2. Select the + button beside Email Accounts.
  3. Choose the matching provider. If it is not shown, choose IMAP config.
  4. Complete provider authorization or enter the requested IMAP/SMTP details, then confirm the connection.

After the account is connected

  • Use All Accounts or All Inboxes to read supported messages from Gmail, Outlook, and IMAP accounts in one unified view.
  • Choose an individual account from the account selector or sidebar to limit the inbox and folders to that mailbox.
  • Provider folders remain account-specific. Available folders and mail actions can vary with the provider and server policy.

Manage a connected account

Open Settings → Account and use the account’s more menu. The UI only displays actions that the selected account supports.

ActionAvailable forBehavior
Set as primaryAn active, non-primary Gmail accountMakes that Gmail address the main Filo account. After confirmation, the primary account cannot be changed again for 30 days.
Edit sender nameGmail accountsChanges the sender name used by FiloMail for that Gmail account.
ReconnectGmail or Outlook when authorization needs attentionRuns the provider authorization flow again. IMAP accounts do not expose a Reconnect action.
Remove emailAny non-primary connected accountDisconnects the mailbox from FiloMail. The original account and messages at the email provider stay unchanged.
If the mailbox uses IMAPIMAP accounts do not currently have a Reconnect menu action. If the password, authorization code, or server settings change, remove the non-primary connection and add it again with the current credentials. See the provider-specific IMAP setup guide.

Removing a mailbox is not deleting your Filo account

Remove email

Use this for one non-primary mailbox. It only removes the connection from FiloMail and does not delete the mailbox at Gmail, Outlook, or the IMAP provider.

Delete Account

This is a separate Filo account action under Settings → Account → more menu. It is not required to disconnect a mailbox and should only be used when you intend to delete the Filo account itself.
