Add and Manage Email Accounts
Connect additional mailboxes to FiloMail, read them together in the unified inbox, or switch to one account when you need a focused view. Account-management actions depend on the provider and account state.
Accounts available in the current account picker
Gmail and Outlook use provider authorization. Yahoo, iCloud, 163 Mail, QQ Mail, and other compatible services connect through FiloMail’s IMAP/SMTP flow.
| Mailbox | Connection method | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Gmail | Google authorization | Eligible active Gmail accounts can be set as the primary Filo account. |
| Outlook | Microsoft authorization | The account can be reauthorized when its connection needs attention. |
| Yahoo and iCloud | Preset IMAP/SMTP form | Use the provider-issued app password when required. |
| 163 Mail and QQ Mail | Preset IMAP/SMTP form | Use the IMAP/SMTP authorization code issued by the provider. |
| Other IMAP mailboxes | IMAP config | Enter the incoming and outgoing server details supplied by the provider or administrator. |

After the account is connected

- Provider folders remain account-specific. Available folders and mail actions can vary with the provider and server policy.
Manage a connected account
Open Settings → Account and use the account’s more menu. The UI only displays actions that the selected account supports.
| Action | Available for | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Set as primary | An active, non-primary Gmail account | Makes that Gmail address the main Filo account. After confirmation, the primary account cannot be changed again for 30 days. |
| Edit sender name | Gmail accounts | Changes the sender name used by FiloMail for that Gmail account. |
| Reconnect | Gmail or Outlook when authorization needs attention | Runs the provider authorization flow again. IMAP accounts do not expose a Reconnect action. |
| Remove email | Any non-primary connected account | Disconnects the mailbox from FiloMail. The original account and messages at the email provider stay unchanged. |
Removing a mailbox is not deleting your Filo account
Remove email
Use this for one non-primary mailbox. It only removes the connection from FiloMail and does not delete the mailbox at Gmail, Outlook, or the IMAP provider.
Delete Account
This is a separate Filo account action under Settings → Account → more menu. It is not required to disconnect a mailbox and should only be used when you intend to delete the Filo account itself.
